The land-locked province Brandenburg in the eastern part of Germany is big birding country which offers a lot of opportunities for nature lovers. From the still untouched Nationalpark Lower Oder Valley on the border to Poland to the UNESCO biosphere reserves Spree Forest, Schorfheide Chorin and Elbe river landscape. Brandenburg is also home to the small village of Ruehstaedt near the Elbe river which is one out of nine so called European White Stork Villages (i didn´t count the amount of White Storks living in that village but it seemed to me that there were more White Storks than people).
Unfortunately this years summer weather was neither predictable nor reliable and so i had to shorten my trip due to havy rains in the eastern part of Germany and missed the Spree Forest. Anyway i enjoyed the five days (instead of eight days) very much. Although i was not able to take photos of White-Tailed Eagles, Ospreys and beavers i was happy with the sightings of these and more animals.
